9:00am and 10:00 waves – waves starting every 30 minutes.
Each start wave will have a restricted # of runners.
Additional waves will be added as current waves fill.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Run the Gauntlet is an intense, primarily off-road test of endurance, agility, and grit. The 4.3 mile course incorporates 8 man-made obstacles, numerous creek crossings, primitive logging roads, fields, extreme terrain challenges and a finish line mud pit.
WHO SHOULD RUN THE GAUNTLET?
Athletes of a variety of fitness, ability and competitive intensity can Run The Gauntlet. At the minimum, athletes should be able to run 4 miles and be prepared for a challenging, rewarding, and fun time. Inevitably, the finish results will be determined by endurance, agility, grit, and competitive intensity. Even the most fit…expect to walk.
THE GAUNTLET FESTIVITIES:
The finish of Run The Gauntlet will be celebrated with live music and the entertainment of cheering other finishers as they maneuver through the final obstacle…the mud pit. Make plans to bring your family and friends and spend the day in the field behind Riverside Restaurant on the banks of the New River.
LUNCH at The Riverside Restaurant:
Lunch is available for purchase at our host, the Riverside Restaurant.
RUNNERS GET:
- A severe test, trial along a 4.5-mile course of intense obstacles, creek crossings, and extreme terrain.
- Original Run The Gauntlet T-Shirt.
- Live Music.
CONDITIONS:
- Must be 14 years old to participate.
- Be prepared to get dirty.
- No Race Refunds or Transfers.
REGISTRATION FEES:
- 1, 2 and 3 Runner Teams
- $45 / runner: through August 1
- $50 / runner: August 1 – September 20
- $55 / runner: September 21 – race day
PACKET PICK-UP:
- Saturday, Day of the Gauntlet, at Riverside Restaurant. We recommend that you arrive at least one hour and 15 minutes before your start time to park, pick-up your packet, warm-up, and be in the paddock 20 minutes before your start time.
NEEDED AT PACKET PICK-UP:
- Photo ID.
- Current Student ID for University Team Division.
- Corporate ID for Corporate Team Division.
- Signed waiver. DOWNLOAD IT NOW to save time at Packet Pick-Up.
PACKET PICK-UP FOR A TEAMMATE OR FRIEND:
- Copy of their photo ID.
- Copy of Current Student ID for University Team Division.
- Copy of Corporate ID for Corporate Team Division.
- Their signed waiver.
- Signed letter granting you permission to pick up their packet.
GAUNTLET TEAM DIVISIONS:
RUN THE GAUNTLET has the following team categories men, women, mixed (mix of men and women), corporate, and university (current student ID from same university required at packet pick-up):
Please note that team waves will be start separately from individual waves, and every wave will consist of teams from every division. You may register for any available wave regardless of you age.
GAUNTLET PRIZES:
- Prizes will be awarded 1 hour and 30 minutes after the start of the last wave.
- Costumes are encouraged! All costumes must be in good taste. Race Officials will not permit obscene or derogatory costumes.
- The top three overall for both individual males and females.
- The top three overall for 2-person and 3-person teams.
- The top team (2-person and 3-person) in each team category: males, females, mixed, corporate, and university.
- Runners must be present to receive prizes. Prizes will not be mailed or held.
- Prizes will not be duplicated.
GAUNTLET SPECTATORS:
Be prepared for a day with your family and friends on the banks of the New River, cheering on muddy athletes, listening to live local music, and eating great food of Riverside Restaurant.
GAUNTLET RULES AND GUIDELINES:
- The following rules and guidelines are intended to help produce a fun and safe event for all participants and fans.
- Participants understand and acknowledge Run The Gauntlet is an extreme event and participants accept all risks associated with the event.
- Participants must be physically able to complete the course.
- Participants must follow all instructions given from all the race director, race staff, volunteers, and medical personnel, otherwise known collectively as Race Officials. Any participant who disobeys instructions from any race official is subject to disqualification and/or removal from the race.
- Participants who fail to complete all obstacles will not receive a finish time, will not show in the results, and will not receive any awards/prizes.
- Cutting the course will result in immediate disqualification.
- Urinating or defecating in anything but available restrooms or porta-johns is strictly prohibited.
- Unsportsmanlike behavior, offensive language, or any other offensive behavior will result in immediate disqualification.
- The presence of and consumption of alcoholic beverages by anyone associated with Run The Gauntlet including participants, spectators, staff, and volunteers is strictly prohibited.
- The presence and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the property of Riverside Restaurant and Cooper’s Dairy Farm is strictly prohibited.
- Every participant must wear the provided Run The Gauntlet bib number on their front. No one will be allowed to race without an official bib number. The absence of an official bib number and timing device will result in immediate disqualification.
- Participants must be 14 years-old or older on race day.
- Participants agree to allow Blue Ridge Endurance, LLC, the event producer, to use any pictures or video footage of the event for future promotional purposes.
- Participants are encouraged to report to the start line paddock at least 20 minutes prior to the start of their wave.
- Participants who fail to start at their assigned start time will not be allowed to race and will be disqualified.
- No non-participant is allowed on the Run The Gauntlet course or any obstacles at any time for any reason.
- Run The Gauntlet course is not available for inspection or trial run prior to the participant’s scheduled start time.
- Registration will close when the capacity is reached.
- All runners from a team must cross the finish line together. The captain must be the last to cross the finish line.
SAFETY:
- Run The Gauntlet medical personnel may examine any participant who appears to be injured or suffering. The medical personnel may remove any participant from the event if in the opinion of the medical personnel the participant needs to be removed.
- Run The Gauntlet is not a groomed course. The course will include a variety of terrain including logging road, pasture, field, and forest.
- Participants assume all responsibility for all medical expenses incurred as a result of training and/or participating in Run The Gauntlet, including but not limited to hospitalization, ambulance transportation or physician services.
- Blue Ridge Endurance, the event producers, reserve the right to cancel or delay the race due to severe weather or in the event of a disaster. In the event of cancellation, Blue Ridge Endurance and Run The Gauntlet cannot accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each athlete needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to other future races. The money you paid is spent developing this race.
- We highly recommend participants wear running shoes. Participants should be dressed appropriately and in clothing that may be damaged during the run.
- Obstacles may be hazardous. It is the responsibility of the participant to leave the course if they cannot complete an obstacle.
- Course officials will be stationed at every obstacle for participant safety.
- It is the responsibility of the participant to notify course officials at any obstacle if the participant ever feels in danger or is injured.
- Any participant who receives assistance from any spectator or non-competitor on any obstacle shall be immediately disqualified.
TIMING:
- Chip timing is being planned.
AMENDMENTS:
- Event officials reserve the right to modify any event rule at any time for any reason.
- Participants shall be responsible for knowing any modification to the Run The Gauntlet rules published prior to the event.
